62 Gorgeous Pole Dance Costume Ideas
Lots and lots of girls (and some guys…) at the studio are busy planning and training for competition this year. We are very lucky to have a national amateur competition in New Zealand organised by the amazing Miss Pole Dance New Zealand, Karry Summers. (To be honest, I’ve no idea how she fits everything in..) It is the NZAPP or NZ Amateur Pole Performers which originated and is also held in the UK - the UKAPP.
The wonderful thing about these competitions, and I am sure there are other amateur competitions, is that it allows us to showcase our pole skills whatever level of pole we are at.
Our competition has a Performer (Beginner) level, Intermediate, Expert and Open (for those who are instructors or professional dancers.)
It’s a lot of fun planning, training and practising. But there is also your costume to think about. In NZAPP there are a large number of points on the judges scoresheet up for grabs for ‘Entertainment Factor’, which includes your costume. Particularly at Performer level.
As we know, the requirements for your attire are different depending on what level you are at – the more advanced you are, the more skin you must have on show. But that shouldn’t prevent you from having a wonderful and inventive costume. And you’ve got to admit, dreaming about your Pole Costume is a nice break from the hard work of training, sweating, nursing the new bruises while you learn new moves and the monotony of listening to the same piece of music over and over again!
